André Kertész, (born July 2, 1894, Budapest [Hungary]—died September 28, 1985, New York, New York, U.S.), Hungarian-born American photographer known for his lyrical and formally rigorous pictures of everyday life.

Kertesz's work had always hints of surrealism, but in "The Polaroid's", he took this to a new level. Cleverly arranged household ornaments were used to explore the relationship between his relationship with his late wife, and in turn their relationship with the outside world.
